FUEL SURCHARGE

FUEL SURCHARGE

We are sure you are aware that recent global events have seen the price of oil rise dramatically in the last few months.  In the last 3 weeks alone, the price of fuel in Fiji has risen 10.2%.

Every effort is made to build a conservative margin into our base rates; however these rates are often issued 18 months prior to their validity. Nobody could have foreseen the events that have affected the price of fuel to such an extent, and having the impact on Blue Lagoon Cruises as to far outstrip the projected margins allocated for the price of fuel.

Up until now, we have absorbed recent price rises, but we regret that we are no longer able to sustain that situation given the latest increases. Therefore, effective 23rd May 2011 we will introduce a compulsory fuel surcharge.

This surcharge will apply to all reservations, with an embarkation date on or after 23rd May 2011. It is applicable to all passengers aged 15 years and over. The surcharge will be FJ$25 per person per day, inclusive of taxes.

We would ask agents to clearly advise all passengers of this charge and to write it on vouchers and itineraries as being an extra charge. We will collect the fee from all passengers at check in for their cruise.

We know and understand that this is a very emotive issue – please accept our assurances that we would not wish to be introducing this charge unless absolutely necessary. We very much regret having to take these steps, we are aware of the impact this has on your, or your client’s, vacation,  however the issue is a serious one and such measures, as distasteful and unpopular as they are bound to be,  are imperative at this time.

We thank you for your understanding with this matter.
